There has been so much that has happened since I last updated you on our life that I was getting too overwhelmed to cram it all into one post. So I have decided to do a series of summer posts that hopefully will not bore you ?

The last I left you we were somewhere in the middle of Iowa/Nebraska on our journey back to Colorado. We were headed home to reorganize, shuffle, pack, and pickup more of our stuff that we left behind. It was great to be back for a couple weeks. Late May in Colorado cannot be beat. Coffee on the back porch in the morning with an incredible view of the mountains was a great way to start the day.

While we were there we bought a 14 foot cargo trailer and packed it to the very top. We bought the trailer so that Luke would have all of his tools in a mobile “garage”. It has proven to be awesome for several of our construction projects that we did this summer. We also packed up all of my kitchen boxes, toys that the boys had to leave behind, patio furniture, our grill, and any random items that we thought we might need for the summer at the farm. We cleaned out and made room in my wonderful mother and grandfather’s houses that they have been so generous to let us use. We sold stuff that we will never use again and tried to downsize some more. Nothing like living in an RV to make you realize how much you don’t need! But when you have space, you fill it up. And so we brought our stuff to our new space and we have filled it up!

The boys spent as much time as possible in Grandma’s pool. Our little fish cannot get enough water time especially when it comes with having your aunt and uncle to play with. We got to catch up with some of our sweet friends that I miss so much! And I am not sure how it happened but Holy Moly, now we have a six year old!

We had to get back to the farm for the first hay cutting and so we shoved in a few more things and hit the road in the truck with the new trailer and our Jeep. Our Jeep made it’s way from Texas where we abandoned it in January and has been sitting in Colorado waiting for us since February after our brother-in-law drove it back for us. So we figured we might as well use our new Jeep for the summer and enjoy the luxury of having two cars again. But that also meant that I got to drive the whole trip back by myself. I have never had the” privilege” of driving from Colorado to Wisconsin all on my own. And it turns out, I enjoy riding more than driving. Huh didn’t see that one coming (sarcasm). Since there was no wifi in the Jeep for my poor spoiled children to use, it was their form of punishment to have to ride with me instead of dad. And to top it off they had to listen to my audio books when they did have to ride with me. But actually Tucker started to like my books I think and rode over half way with me the second day. He is a funny kind. We did the trip in two days with a stop in Omaha for a night. We were fortunate that restaurants had just started reopening after the shut down. Nothing like a dinner at Cracker Barrel to ease the weary road traveler. The hotel was weirdly quiet and empty. But a huge bonus when you have three boys with pent up energy who just want to run around the room. I didn’t have to shush them! You have to look for the silver lining wherever you can ?.

So back to the farm and all the fun things we did this summer. Stay tuned for updates on the Lodge, our 3 rounds of hay cutting, trips to Lake Superior and Long Lake, and our plans for the rest of fall and winter.

Live your Adventure,

Julie
